Most people look at The Great Gatsby as just another classic
American novel on the high school reading list but I for one, actually really
enjoyed reading the book and absolutely loved the movie. There have been many
films made following the novel, and I have seen the one made in 2000 but it is
nothing compared to the one that came out in 2013. In my opinion, the movie was
very well made and followed the novel very well. It’s one of my favorites
because it is a lot more than just a love story—it’s about life and the
American dream. It takes place during the prohibition era, 1920’s, so everything
in the movie had sparkle and I loved that. The cast was also great, Leonardo
DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, and Carey Mulligan as
Daisy Buchanan. Other great things that made me fall in love with the movie
were the costumes, parties, setting, and the music. Whether or not you’re a fan
of the classic novel, The Great Gatsby, I would recommend watching the movie
anyway because there are many aspects of the movie you may find to love.

I read the book in high school but have never actually seen the movie. It's a great setting, and I actually really do want to see it to see how they portray the extravagance of Gatsby's life.
ReplyDeleteI have both read the book and seen the movie. I enjoyed it enough to actually purchase it for myself. The only thing that really bothered me about the film was the music choice...really? They played Jay-Z during the party scenes? Don't get me wrong, it makes it feel like a party, but I think they could have chosen more fitting music for the given time period.
